Christmas.

Christmas is over for another year. This is my poor attempt at creating magic, 2010 style. 2011's tree will be oh so much better, i guarantee it.

Although our tree may be bland and only a foot tall, it still held presents full of love underneath it's branches. It held delicately placed cards with beautiful words written inside, two sleeping kittens whom would chew at the paper (much to my annoyance) just to get a sneak peek inside. It reminded me that i can afford a tree, and a house, and food. Made me thankful, it did.

Christmas day was just as perfect. Breakfast with my mummy, daddy, sister, brother and love. Probably the best breakfast i've had in a while too. We opened presents without hesitation and all felt like it was exactly what we had wanted. Zebb and i received a toaster and kettle set for our new abode (coming early 2011) and gave my mother a new dusty pink purse, my father an armani gift set, my sister a load of dvd's and my brother a video game. We all piled into the dining room and feasted on waffles with ice-cream and 'real' maple syrup (apparently mum searched high and low until she found the exact brand of maple syrup for christmas morning, she was having no substitutes), warm toasty english muffins with crispy bacon and ripened tomatoes. After our stomach's were nearly bursting at the seams we found ourselves in the loungeroom playing xbox kinect and watching dad dance to kylie minogue. 10 o'clock rolled around and with so much food to prepare for lunch, zebb and i left all sleepy eyed but happy.

We spent lunch time at Zebb's father's and stepmother's house. His whole family make it a tradition to spend christmas day together because there are so few of them, and they are so close-knit. Every year they alternate which house we will be celebrating at and it was mentioned at the end of lunch that it should be Zebb and I's turn in 2011. Wow. I remember being a kid and waking up on christmas morning to the excitement of going to a relatives house and seeing all of my aunties and uncles and cousins. Next year that will be us. Zebb's baby sister will remember the christmas that was spent at 'Zebby and Banana's house'. She, along with everyone else, will remember fine detail and if it is to run smoothly i will prepare like i have never prepared before. Our first christmas as adults will be the best they've ever been to. Oh hell yeah it will.

So excited for 2011!

~ Rhey.
